To mobilize the church in mission through praying, discipling, giving, and educating. By praying we intercede for leaders and churches and for the Holy Spirit to draw all people to Christ. The purpose of discipling is to mobilize the church in mission. We give generously in order to expand the kingdom of Christ. And in educating adults, youth, and children we seek to communicate our faith, nurture Christlike disciples, and inform about mission work around the globe.
What are we doing?
The Alabaster Offering provides funds for property and buildings around the world. While we understand the church consists of the people of God and not a building, buildings erected for the purpose of ministry help provide a sense of permanence, functionally enhance ministry efforts, and convey an attitude that the Church of the Nazarene intends to “put down roots.” Alabaster funds help provide land for many Work & Witness projects, and the entire Alabaster Offering goes toward the purchase of land and construction of churches, schools, medical facilities, and homes for missionaries and national workers.
The Church of the Nazarene acknowledges that Faith Promise giving is a biblical method used by many local churches for raising financial support for world evangelization. For our denomination, it is dedicated specifically to the mission support of the Church of the Nazarene through various offerings promoted by Nazarene Missions International (NMI).
Crisis Care Kits
Crisis Care Kits (CCKs) are a cooperative effort between Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Incorporated (NCMI) and Nazarene Missions International (NMI). CCKs continue to meet needs around the world. The kits have gone to places like Belize, California, Dominican Republic, Greensburg, KS, Haiti, Jamaica, Jordon, Louisiana, Philippines, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Ukraine, and Zambia. Your generosity makes an incredible difference!
Knowledge is key to involvement. With an understanding of the needs of the world and what the church is doing to meet those needs, we are more likely to commit to the support of missions through prayer, giving, communication, and going. Each year NMI purchases age-appropriate reading materials and books/tapes that provide learning opportunities and activities designed to engage people of all ages in missions. Check out the NMI resource area in the foyer at Calvary!
Supporting a Global Church
We support hundreds of missionaries in 130+ countries around the world. The Nazarene Church is in all the countries in red below. Click on a country to learn more about missions in that region. We are not able to acknowledge all regions where the Church is spreading. So some countries where there are missionaries are in grey. These are known as Creative Access Areas. Numerical figures connected to each country are taken from the 2017 General Assembly reports.
